Italy Announces 10,000 Work Visas for Indian Citizens through Decreto Flussi 2024

Italy will give Indian nationals 10,000 work visas in 2024 through the Migration and Mobility Program. Starting from 1 April, interested candidates will be able to apply for this program for seasonal and nonseasonal visas. As per distribution, 6,000 visas will be given for the nonseasonal and 4,000 for seasonal categories.

This offer is a result of a deal between two countries. Normally, Indian nationals apply for Italian work visas under the Decreto Flussi program. This new quota will help more workers to work in Italy. Last year, this quota was 8,000, this year it is 10,000 and the next year in 2025, this will be 12,000.

Indian students can obtain a temporary residence permit in Italy for a period of up to twelve months after completing their education in the country. This agreement between the two countries promotes the mobility of students, skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals, and strengthens cooperation on issues related to irregular migratory flows. It also provides concessions for the granting of visits in cases of study, internship, and professional training opportunities.

Indian nationals along with this deal, will also be able to benefit from the general quota of the Decreto Flussi for the eligible countries which has been set as 151,000 for this year.

The agreement also formalizes joint work on the opening of mobility paths between the two countries through the recruitment of qualified young Indians in the healthcare sector, an issue that will be discussed by an ad hoc working group. Cooperation between Italy and India in the fight against irregular migratory flows is also formalized. The agreement will remain in force for five years and, if it is not canceled by one of the two countries, it will be automatically renewed for another five years.
